Here we are checking out our “new” kitchen before moving it to our new home. I am definitely getting anxious for us to complete the renovations and get settled in. ~Windy

October 15, 2008
Such a beautiful day on the river.

Words just can’t describe it.
In the interests of being less isolated, we’ve joined a local social club for Resin people called ResinNation. Here are some pictures, courtesy of Birdgirl, of the Twelth Night Party ~Windy

It’s fun to have an excuse to dress up.

Tarot card reading is a traditional New Years and Carnivale activity. It’s also a useful ice-breaker for a shy person like myself .

What a huge crowd!
These are some photos of Windy and Luke from before this blog was started

Got Coffee?

Luke keeps in training, sort of.

Windy showing off some new clothes and the new apartment.

More showing off, Mama Llywellyn’s china and the house-proud Windy.

More coffee.

Problems of scale.

Visitors and still more coffee.

The young ones.

More recycled pictures today. The sweater that appears in all three photos was truly one of a kind. It was hand knit from a ball of yarn found in a thrift store, a wool/polyester blend with an indescribably sublime texture and a beautiful soft halo. The label on the ball had a copyright date in the 1970s and a price sticker from a long-defunct five-and-dime. Who knew that yarn could age like fine wine?

The sweater accidentally ended up in the for-sale pile at Paducah so it is off on new adventures. I hope whoever wears it now is enjoying it.

More from Windy…
We will have a camera again very soon, but until then here are some left-over pictures from this past summer that haven’t been posted here.

My sweetie in a very interesting hat. I think that Eppie sold that one in Paducah. Don’t the glasses make him look very distinguished?

Mama Mill and I catching up. I miss that little room in our old apartment. It was comfortable and cozy.

During a fitting for my wedding dress. I ended up having half that trim removed. It was a little too flashy. We spent most of the summer feeling overwhelmed and undecided about wedding plans (not the getting married, just the ceremony itself). We eventually opted for a very simple ceremony…but that’s another post.
Here is Windy’s “in universe” description of herself and her family.
Since this is a relaunch of sorts I’ll begin by introducing our family.
This is me. My name is Windy Whills. I’m 26 years old. I like to read, write, knit and putter around with domestic stuff. I’m currently a stay-at-home mom, but I also work on a private research project and model for my friend, Eppie, who has a clothing business. Eppie makes almost all the clothes I wear, including my wedding outfit in the avatar picture. Unfortunately I sold my wedding dress, but I kept my hand knit veil and the preserved roses.
This is my husband, Luke. We met on our first day of kindergarten and were high-school sweethearts. We reconnected after college (me) and military service (Luke) and were married last October. The other great loves of Luke’s life are fast cars and martial arts. (EDIT: my current priorities are as follows 1.) YOU 2.) Biwan 3.) Whoever else might come along 4.) The rest of our family. “Martial Arts” and the Mustang are pretty low on my list right now~Luke) He hopes to open his own dojo soon. (EDIT: This is true…I’m not off the path.~Luke) He also likes to draw (he’s much better than he thinks) and has to work very hard at not cheating at poker.
This is our baby daughter Biwan. I adopted her in September 2007, before our marriage, but she’s always been just as much Luke’s daughter as mine. She is the brightest little girl in the world, curious about everything and always ready for new adventures. She loves books, toy animals, riding toys and the rare opportunities she has to play with kids her own age.
Technically Mildred is my step-mom, but really second-mom would be a better description. She was a good friend to both my parents since before I was born and she’s always been there for me my whole life. She recently retired from being a rural nurse practitioner.
This is my dad, Nuncio. He recently rejoined our family after many years as a wandering scholar. He likes tinkering with stuff around the house as much the rest of us. Which is a very good thing since we are in the process of moving house and our new place needs a lot of work. It’s really good to have Dad,and his slightly off the wall ideas, around these days.
Testing, 1, 2, 3…..
If this works Windy will soon be on to catch up with 2008 and begin 2009.
